Maggie Reynolds: Lincoln Dahlberg - autonomist marxist

    Lincoln Dahlberg makes a convincing argument when he discusses autonomist marxist. Defined by Dahlberg as "information freely shared and open to anyone", autonomist marxist is one of the greatest benefits of digital communication. For most websites you are not required to pay a fee or spend money in anyway to access the site. Facebook, for example, simply requires an email and password and from that you can communicate and freely share information with anyone. This benefits students, businesses, anyone in a group who needs a form of communication with their constituents. Everyone can sign up for Facebook and from there they can all "chat" and send files or videos freely. Also, every group member can receive the information so it is open to everyone. 
    Sites such as wikipedia and wiki answers allow for anyone in the world to post what they know about a certain topic. While some information can be bad or not correct, the overall benefits are dominate. It has become a universal phrase, "google it", because wikipedia will pop up right away and from there the information is overwhelming! Wikipedia is a "multilingual, web-based, free-content encyclopedia project supported by the Wikimedia Foundation and based on an openly editable model." This relates directly to Dahlberg's definition of autonomist marxist, information freely shared and open to anyone.

    Another example is the epidemic known as "End it, shine a light on slavery". People all over the United States and the world put a red X on their hand to raise awareness about slavery and show their support. The face that this is a campaign about spreading awareness makes digital communication such a useful tool. A website called "enditmovement.com" spreads awareness and people share pictures with the hashtag #enditmovement. Without the use of digital communication, spreading awareness would have taken much longer and the creators may have given up on it altogether. However, awareness has been spread so widely that $133,848.36 have been raised and so many people know about the cause which is the penultimate goal. The ultimate goal being to end slavery completely. 
    From examples listed above, it is obvious that the autonomist marxist is a very convincing argument made by Lincoln Dahlberg.
